Biseach Therapy

Counselling & Psychotherapy

With Steve Woodgate

“Biseach (BISH-urk) - The powerful Irish word for healing, improvement, and stepping into a better tomorrow.”

About Me

My name is Steve. I am male identifying person-centred therapist from Fareham, Hampshire. I have a Level 5 Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling & Psychotherapy awarded by Middlesex University.

If you’re looking for a therapist who will only give you lots of “mm’s” and “so how does that make you feel?”’ - I’m probably not the therapist for you.

Instead I’ll be gently inquisitive and curious about you from the word go.

I believe in really understanding and getting to know my clients so that you’ll feel seen, heard, valued and understood - and it’ll be this process of allowing your most authentic self to come through in a trusting, confidential space that will conduce the change from within that you’re seeking.

It sounds hard to believe now - but I have witnessed this with my clients, and I have also experienced this personally.

You can think of me as a bald and bearded safety net whilst you undertake this journey.

Client Testimonies

“With Steve’s support I have been able to navigate a very difficult time in my life where I was “stuck”.

My feelings and experiences leading up to this en passé were validated by the fact he is a brilliant listener. He was able to recount facts about my life I’d disclosed in previous weeks in consequent sessions.

Over the twelve weeks I appreciated the protected hour I had been given, to explore what was going on in my life and how to go forward without continuing to carry the mental burden of the situation. Having the time to mentally unburden each week made me feel lighter overall.

We talked about many things other than my own situation but I think this just shows life is a tapestry of subjects, not just the immediate problem.

Thank you Steve, for being the extra support I needed during this stage in my life.

I would highly recommend Steve as a counsellor.”

“I met with Steve every week to try and work through some of my issues. I find it very difficult to open up at times but I found that Steve was very easy to talk to and very understanding.

I never felt judged by him and he was always listening and had time for me. I felt the whole experience really really benefited me and helped me to open up about many feelings that I had buried and suppressed for quite a while.

Steve allowed me to go at my own pace and didn’t push me to open up about things that I was not comfortable about, but at the same time I also felt that he was able to get me to open up more than I would have normally.

I found that Steve was very professional at all times and insured that the environment we were in was suitable for the discussions we were having.

I would definitely recommend counselling with Steve to people in the future.”

“I worked with Steve for around nine months. He has helped me to make a huge difference in how I deal with things and how I see myself.

Whether it is with grounding techniques in order for me to compose myself to be able to talk about things or other strategies we have worked collaboratively on, I am now at a place where I feel I better understand myself and accept things as they are.

Trust is important to me and through working with Steve, I have found it easier to open up.

Throughout our sessions, I've felt comfortable, safe and that I am heard.

Having the support and understanding of a counsellor like Steve has made a positive impact on my daily life.”

Why I care…

Life can be tough, but I am a firm believer that it is not what happens to us, but instead how we handle and manage what happens to us that ultimately defines us.

It can be a big step realising that you feel you need assistance and to reach out to therapists. In a world where it sometimes feels independence is rewarded and that we have to do everything alone - it takes courage to ask for help.

The truth is, deep down we are all the same. We all feel the same emotions. We all have insecurities, negative thoughts and events that have changed us. We all want a life of contentment and fulfilment in all its beautiful forms - but most importantly - we all need other people to lean on for support whilst we navigate our way through our darkest moments; people who help us navigate the paths that lead us to our fullest potentials.

If you’ve found this website, I already know you’re one of these people who have taken the courage to initiate change in their life with the assistance of a licensed therapist.

If you choose to work with me, we will work collaboratively on how you want to make these changes in your life, and I will aid you in finding your own solutions to what troubles you. We will go at your pace; in which your autonomy and boundaries will be honoured and respected. We will explore what you want to explore in a confidential, safe, and non-judgemental space; where anything can be worked with.

This is your journey and you decide what paths you want to take, but I will be here to facilitate the process in a way that enables you to reach your desired outcomes in the most respected, safe and ethical way possible.

Ethical & Legal

Confidentiality

Counselling confidentiality is a fundamental principle that aims to enable a safe, trusting space for clients to speak openly. It means that anything shared during our sessions is kept private and not disclosed to others without your consent. This privacy allows you to explore whatever you decide to bring to counselling without fear of judgment or risk of exposure. The counselling space I use has been soundproofed and is purposefully designed with confidentiality in mind.

However, confidentiality is not absolute. Counsellors have a professional and ethical duty to break confidentiality in specific situations, such as when there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others you mention, or when required by law. In these cases, any necessary disclosure is handled carefully and with your wellbeing as the priority.
